Mi.eL Pink Label

Mi.eL pink label was established in the summer of 2006 through the collaboration of two Graduate School friends Milagros Berrios and Elise Smith. Brought together by their shared passion for clothing and fervor to perfect design, Milagros and Elise began designing their first collection after graduating from Domus Academy in Milan.  While there, they were immersed in European design studies and training.  Working with designers such as Antonio Berardi, Nike Euro and Swarovski they participated with hands on experience with the European Fashion and Accessory Market.  

The company name, like the company itself, was born from the merging of their two names, Milagros and Elise, to form Mi.eL to which pink label was added to emphasize their delicate and feminine design techniques. Mi.el pink label's strength and uniqueness is defined by the diversity of its owners. From the beginning their work reflected the fusing of two styles, two cultures, and two backgrounds.   Peruvian born Milagros, with a Bachelor Degree in Advertising, began her career in fashion while working in Lima as a Product Developer; subsequently she moved to New York in 2001 for a Postgraduate Program in Fashion at Parsons School of Design and began applying her talent back in Lima where she headed a Fashion Studio specializing her work in cocktail and eveningwear.  Elise was born and raised in Santa Fe-New Mexico, but attended school at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated with a BA in Art Studio. Her studies continued in Los Angeles at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) where she enrolled in Postgraduate Program in Fashion Design.  During her studies, she began working in the fashion industry as an Assistant Designer and Fabric Sourcer.   

With Studios in Lima and Santa Barbara, Mi.el pink label's garments are constructed in-house and produced to extremely high standard. All detail work including beading, knitting, and embroidery are made and applied by hand giving each garment a unique and sophisticated finish.  Milagros and Elise share a medley of experiences and education from which they draw much inspiration.  While continuously exploring new construction techniques and innovative detail application, Mi.eL pink label's belief is in creating timeless clothes for women who want to look and feel comfortable, different and feminine.  For Mi.eL pink label, the secret of fashion is to capture the person's insight, essence, and personality; therein lies their inspiration, the inspiration of life, beauty and style.
