AGAVE was founded in 2002 by industry veteran Jeff Shafer, Agave has become a major player in the men's premium denim business. Shafer identified a void in the market place for jeans designed to appeal to men 25 to 45 years old who wanted authentic, great fitting jeans they could wear anywhere that would be youthful and contemporary without being over styled. Agave uses only the finest Japanese, Italian and USA made Supima cotton denims. Shafer often works with boutique mills to design fabrics exclusive to Agave. Agave jeans are cut, sewn and hand-finished exclusively in California. According to Shafer, "Its all about the product & details. My job is to design and build products that bridge the gap between the hippest denim shops and the finest men's boutiques. Agave jeans are authentic enough to hold their own in the finest denim shops yet refined, sophisticated and luxuriously enough to merchandise along with the finest luxury brands," says Shafer.
Agave is known throughout the USA and Canada for its outstanding fits, luxurious fabrics & finishes. Today, Agave has built a strong support from both retailers and customers alike and now sold in over 500 denim and specialty boutiques as well as all Barneys New York and Nordstrom's stores around the country. As the word on Agave has continued to spread, we owe our success and give our most sincere gratitude to our supporters. As a result, Agave has opened up more international distribution and is sold in stores in Japan, Spain and Brazil and is looking to open Europe in the near future.
The brand has become a favorite among actors and musicians including: Samuel L Jackson, Ryan Gosling, Adrien Brody, Bruce Willis, Carson Daly, Mark Macgrath, Josh Hartnett and Peter Krause. In addition, Agave can be seen regularly on hot shows like Desperate Housewives and The OC as well as on the lead actors, like Max Minghella in "Art School Confidential" and M Night Shamalyan's new hit "Lady in the Water."
